The Race of Helston

Race Information

REGISTRATION Entries should be posted by 12th March 2008. There is a £2 surcharge for any entries made on race day. Registration is from 09.00 at Helston Rugby  Club, Clodgey Lane.

PARKING/CHANGING There is ample free parking and changing facilities are available at Helston Rugby Club.  Toilets and Showers are available.

START/FINISH The start will be from the entrance to Helston Rugby Club.  The finish will be at The Rugby Club - competitors will be routed around the pitch before finishing in front of the Club House.

COURSE ROUTE - From the start the route is North along Clodgey Lane to the traffic lights and there left down Trengrouse Way, then down Meneage Street, Coinagehall Street and Monument Street, the main streets of Helston which will be closed to traffic for the event. From the Porthleven Road, runners will enter the Penrose Estate, taking the path leading to the beach at Loe Bar. After crossing the shingle bar, runners will take the cliff path to Gunwalloe and then the country road, past Culdrose Sports Ground, to the A394, Helston-Lizard road. Runners will follow the cycle track back to Helston, (taking care crossing at the Helston Hospital roundabout) and back into the Rugby Club for the finish. Marshals will be stationed at all critical points along the route.

FINISH At the finish all An Resek Hellys competitors will receive a T-shirt and sponsors gifts. There will be medical assistance for those who require it. Refreshments and drinks will be available.  The cut off time is 1300, competitors finishing after this time may not be recorded.

POST RACE The Rugby Club has a licensed bar and offers good value for money. A range of catering facilities should be available. So please come along and socialise while the results are collated.   We will aim to conduct the prize giving no later than 1245.

ROUTE MARKERS - The route will be clearly marked with mile markers every mile. Junctions and hazardous points will be marshaled. Please obey their instructions. A sweep up vehicle will follow the route and render assistance to any runners who have to retire or have gone astray.

SPECTATOR POINTS - Are plentiful throughout the scenic route. Please park considerately and take your litter home.

SPONSORSHIP - This is fund raising/community venture. Competitors are encouraged to gain maximum sponsorship for their participation. Runners may, of course, choose their own charity to sponsor. The Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard will be donating proceeds Rotary Charities. Sponsorship forms are available for this. If you choose to support the Rotary Charities, please bring these forms and any collected monies with you to registration.

DRINKS AND SPONGES Drinks are available at the start and approximately 3,6,9 miles and the finish. Water Stations will be located at Penrose, Berepper and Culdrose.
